So it’s Friday, January 10. It’s snowing again in Cincinnati. I arrived here Monday night to an historic snowstorm. 10-11″ of snow. And I have learned something about my beloved mini-cooper. It is not a snow vehicle. I also learned something about at least 2 members of local law enforcement. If they drive by you and see you trying to push / drive your way out of a snow drift, they will slow down, stop, look at you, wait just long enough for you to stop what you are doing and start to wave in hopes of aid, then drive away.
Not all cops. I actually am a fan of law enforcement. I have both friends and family who are members of that community. But these 2 people, on this night? Not a big fan. The good news is that I’m just stubborn enough to keep at it until, more by luck than skill, I managed to extract myself, get home and park my car for 2 days, until the streets got drivable again…
…but I digress…
The last year was a good one. I actually had my 2024 scheduled out, for the most part, by February of last year. Got to do several great shows, including a show where I had to strip (The Full Monty), which I just didn’t see coming at 64 years of age, but there you go. And one that was less than good, because not all casts are perfect and harmonious and loving. But that’s just part of the gig., man. You learn from those experiences as well. Ended the year with a great show & cast, some time in one of my favorite places and New Years Eve on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. If you ever have the chance, do it.
Now, 2025. My dance card for 2025 is officially…empty. Plenty of auditions happening, just sent 2 virtual callbacks today, but no contracts signed. Does this bother me?
Not really. Spending time here in my postage stamp of an apartment, getting a little more Cincinnati-time, is probably a good thing. And if you know me, you know I’m always about 5 mins away from planning a trip. L.A. , Ireland, some new interesting adventure, whatevs…. And it’s also a good time to work on me. Whether it’s diet, workouts, vocal / acting, there’s no such thing as perfect and no such thing as “getting there”. The beauty is that there is always something to work on.
So I’ll work.
My hopes for you for 2025? Be unapologetically yourself. Surround yourself with people who will support that idea. Don’t let other folks set your agenda. That’s it. If you want fitness, go for it. If you want to travel, do it. Don’t pay attention to what you’re supposed to do based on your gender, age, etc. Maybe the best way to put it is.
Be Happy.
Talk later,
Bob
