”Price Hill Boy” or “Yes, there’s a book”

So yeah, see what happens when I amass 42 subscribers to my blog after 6 years?
I decide I’m interesting enough to write a book. Actually, it’s something I hear after relating some outrageous but true story about my past. “ Why don’t you write a book?” Well I am nothing if not accommodating. But why this one, why now? Instead of another long winded explanation, Ill just give you the forward from the book itself. And if you’re intrigued enough to want more info, or even, heaven forbid, buy a copy , just go to ;

FORWARD

So, why “Price Hill Boy”.

Well, it’s like this…

In my 60 -ish odd years on the planet I’ve had the opportunity to go to lots of different places and see / do lots of different things.

As a performer, I’ve had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented people.

As a professional, I’ve traveled all over the world.

As a person, I’ve met amazing people from all walks of life.

Do I think that’s because I am somehow special?

Nope.

I think that what I am is a very ordinary person who has been presented with some extraordinary opportunities. One of the talents I think I have is the ability, and tendency, to say “Yes”.

Bob, want to move to California? ….Yes.

Bob, want to sing on cruise ships?…Yes

Bob, want to join the circus?…. and so on.

I’ve had people say to me “You should write a book about your life”. I’ve resisted the idea. I didn’t know if it would be all that fascinating. I still don’t. But what I’m going to do is put together stories. Kinda like my blog site. Yes, I have a blog site. It’s called “Practically Well”. (Practicallywell.net, if you must know…) I’ve been blogging about health & wellness, and all of the knowledge, pseudo-knowledge and just plain bull associated with it, from the perspective of a middle aged guy from the midwest. I started that in October of 2018. and in the last 5 1/2 year have generated, yup, about 42 followers.

42.

That’s not an influencer. Or a mini-influencer. Or a micro-influencer.

That’s more of a self-influencer.

I do it for me. As sort of a creative outlet.

I’ve also written 1-act plays. And actually had them produced in both L.A. and New York. I actually had a short video of a piece I wrote called “Black & Blue”, about the relationship between law enforcement and the African American community, accepted as a part of the “Queens Underground Black & Brown Film Festival “ in 2021. I was honored and amused in equal measure.

The point being I’ve done some writing.

So I’m going to stick to the blog template. I’ll share stories about, simply put, some stuff that has happened to me. Some hopefully funny, some maybe a bit more serious. We’ll see how this goes. When it comes to other folks who are involved in these stories, I’m going to change names slightly. I don’t think people should just be thrown in to this little project without their consent. And if it’s something really heinous, I simply won’t include it here. I can’t think of what that might be, but just saying.

And oh, that’s right, not everyone knows what a “Price Hill” is. Price Hill is the neighborhood I grew up in. In my day, my day being the 60’s and 70s, Price Hill was a middle / lower middle class neighborhood on the West side of Cincinnati, Ohio. And I have a lot of Price Hill still in me. 40+ years of world travel and performing arts hasn’t completely removed it. For which I’m glad. My Price Hill attitude has saved my sorry butt more than once.

But I think that’s a story to be told in the ensuing chapters.
Enjoy
