So the snow / ice storm that hit my midwestern friends has finally gotten here to Lancaster, Pa. To my friends on the west coast, in the interest of not getting censored for profanity, yeah, I know, it’s 64 degrees and you’re FREEZING!
Whatevs….
But we now have snow, freezing rain and temps in the 20’s / teens. I was wondering whether I should try to get to the gym before rehearsal starts at 12:30, but the gym made the decision for me by CLOSING for the day.
So. Today is Tuesday. On my fitness schedule, Tuesday is Back/Biceps day, with core & cardio (of course). But, no gym, and I’m not running in 20 degrees & snow. I’ve done it before, but I have a responsibility to my employer and my fellow performers not to do anything patently stupid, at least not until the show closes on 2/17. So back to my original question. How to get a workout in without a fitness facility or a running trail? What do my thoughts run to?
COVID
During those COVID days, circa 2020 / 2021, the gyms in Southern California were closed for about 7 or 8 months. They actually put barriers up in the parks, trying to keep people from running or working out outside. I’m not going to say that some people didn’t jump the barricades. Maybe some did….
…..but I digress…
So how did we workout?
However we could. With yoga mats, body weight resistance training, resistance bands, buddy workouts, whatever. We did it however we could. Get in where you fit in, right?
So, this morning, I took inventory.
Yoga mat, check.
Resistance band, check.
So, resistance , stretch & core……..done & dusted.
So, cardio…..hmm.
But wait. Didn’t I, during those days, when I was back in L.A., put together a quick, mini, 15 min cardio routine for my friends / co-workers in Latin America?
Why yes. I did. Do I still have that routine, in my YouTube channel?
Yup.
So, there I am this morning, following my 2020 self thru a Latin music cardio routine.
Observations;
– Boy did I stay basic for a long time.
– Evidently I hadn’t been teaching for a while. I totally forgot about mirroring ( left is right, right is left).
– My cueing was terrible.
– So is my Spanish.
However, just to share, here’s that video. If you’re snowed in & looking for a quick cardio hit, feel free. The You Tube link is https://youtu.be/Bz8qwsQAq-8?si=SNmt7anj8grhVgPT
It’s an edited version, because of copyright stuff, but you’ll get the idea.
Gracias por sus participaciones.
Habla pronto,
